So Much For That

Wouldn't you know it? We get all ready to head out on the boat and as we're driving to the lake the sky starts getting darker and darker. Off in the distance, you can see the rain coming down.

Oh what the heck. It's only rain. We'll still head out. It may miss us.

Then, a bolt of lightning. No way in hell I'm going out in a boat when it's lightning. So, our fishing trip turned out to be just a joy ride with the boat hooked on.

On a brighter note, the Mike's Hard Lemonade should be just about the right temperature by now. I think I'll go grab one and sit in the garage and watch the storm.

Flood Pictures

OK, the storms have let up a little bit, so I thought I'd share a couple of pictures with you of the flooding in our area today.

As you can see, it's pretty bad around here. The weatherman just informed me that we can expect more rain overnight. I'm almost afraid of what my basement is going to look like by morning. I've gotten everything off the floor, but oh my goodness. What a mess!

Gonna Build an Ark

It has been raining here for days on end. Tonight, we spent about two hours in our basement because of severe thunderstorms complete with tornadoes and hail. One storm right after another.

We're finally up out of the basement, but it's still storming. The rain has been coming down in sheets for most of the late afternoon and evening. So far, they estimate our rainfall for just today at four or five inches, and it's still raining!

My yard is flooded, my basement is flooded (it's pouring in like someone left a faucet run), the roads are impassible, and my dogs won't go outside to go potty.

In a nearby city, people are stranded in their cars in four to five feet of water. They've declared a state of emergency in two neighboring towns that I know of, and probably more to follow. It's bad here. Way too much rain in way too short a period of time.

I'm guessing I probably shouldn't be on the computer right now. The last clap of thunder shook the house and rattled the windows. I'm going to take that as my cue to say goodbye for now.

I Have Had It!

With this Wisconsin weather, that is. We had winter, for what seemed like forever this year, and now, it's rain. Rain every single day, for a week now. And I'm not just talking about a shower here and there. I'm talking, torrential rains, thunder, lightning, high winds, and tornadoes.

My basement is flooded. Not flooded to the point of damage, but flooded enough that I have to walk through water to do laundry. And that ticks me off.

My garden is overgrowing with weeds because I can't get out there to pull them. Today it isn't raining (for a change) but the mosquitoes are so bad in the garden, I swear they want to carry me away! There are so many, I'm afraid they will suck me dry!

I just looked at the forecast for the next week, and guess what? More rain. Every day, rain. Rain. Rain. Rain!

I Think Mother Nature Is Confused

Yesterday, we had a temperature of 72º, with thunderstorms and tornadoes. Today, we hit a whopping 45º, and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Tomorrow, a high in the lower 40's, with a chance for snow showers.

Isn't it almost the end of April?

We had such a long, cold winter, and it just doesn't want to let go. I'm so tired of this cold weather. I got out a week or so ago to start working in my garden, but haven't been able to get out since. It's either raining or too cold.

I just want a few days in a row where I can get my yard work done. I love working in my garden, and it needs help. Next week isn't looking any better. Highs are only supposed to be in the lower 50's, with rain most of the week, which means in addition to not being able to get outside, my basement will continue to be wet, with little rivers running across it.

Oh where, oh where is the warm weather?

It's a Good Day to be a Duck!

It's raining again. At 8:00 in the morning it's almost dark as night. Two days straight of pouring rain in January, melting all the snow we had, makes for one big, sloppy mess!

I'm not complaining about the temperatures, though. It's been in the 40's the past two days. They're calling for above normal temperatures the rest of this week. I hate the cold, so this is a good thing.

My basement is getting wet. Little rivers of water are running across the floor, and down the drain. Nothing too major, but annoying just the same. This doesn't usually happen until spring when the ground thaws. I don't think the ground actually had a chance to freeze this winter before we got a ton a snow on top of it. Must be why my basement is wet already.

I really don't like this dreary day. I've noticed that since I lost most of my eyesight, my moods seem to change with the weather. Sunny days make me feel good, happy. Dreary, rainy days make me feel blah. No energy, no desire to do anything. Not really depressed, just.....blah.

I hope the sun comes out tomorrow!
