We went to McDonalds last night for supper. I ordered a Crispy Chicken Ranch BLT value meal. Mike ordered a Big N Tasty value meal, and the kids had their usual Double Cheeseburger value meals. We sat down to eat, and I noticed that my sandwich was missing a vital ingredient in the BLT part of the name. The TOMATO.
I went back up to the counter, because one of my favorite parts of the BLT is the tomato. I was informed that because of the E-coli scare with tomatoes, McDonalds is no longer (for the time being) putting tomatoes on its sandwiches.
I went back to our table. Mike's sandwich was the same. No tomato.
C'mon! Every tomato in the world cannot be tainted with the E-coli bacteria! There has to be another supplier somewhere that has good tomatoes, right?
I suppose this means that Taco Bell (which I absolutely LOVE!) will stop putting tomatoes on its food, too. This will royally tick me off. I mean, tomatoes are a main ingredient as far as I'm concerned. Pretty soon, there won't be anything left. They already did away with the green onions a couple of years ago when E-coli reared its ugly head in that vegetable. They've never brought them back.
Needless to say, my sandwich was very disappointing. A cold piece of not-so-crispy chicken, a piece of wilted lettuce, a drop of ranch dressing that could have actually been missing also, there was so much, and a dry bun. Without the tomato, I don't believe I'll be ordering that again.
Oh my goodness! I just had another thought! What about Subway? I always ask for extra tomatoes on my sandwiches there!
I guess the only solution is to grow my own tomatoes, get everything to go, bring it home, and add my own E-coli-free tomatoes.
Oh, the humanity!
