The school year has begun, and they have wasted no time in throwing the kids into their extra-curricular activities. We're gone every night of the week, either to a practice or a game of some sort. Our schedule is as follows:
Monday: volleyball games (Rebecca) football practice (Tristan)
Tuesday: football practice (Timothy) football practice (Tristan)
Wednesday: volleyball practice (Rebecca) football practice (Tristan)
Thursday: volleyball practice (Rebecca) football game - JV (Tristan)
Friday: football game - Varsity (Tristan)
Saturday: football games (Timothy)
Sunday: day of rest (thank goodness!)
Somewhere in all this mess, the kids have to get their homework done, eat supper, spend time reading, and Rebecca has to practice her clarinet. Rebecca and Timothy get home from school around 4pm, and go to bed at 9pm. The five hours between is spent getting everything done. There isn't much time for rest and relaxation before bedtime, that's for sure!
I knew having three kids was going to be hectic as they got older, but this will take some getting used to. This is the first year that all three of them have something going on, and I'm not used to having to run every single day. Usually I can keep track of everything in my head, but this year, I had to start keeping track of everything on a calendar. It's just crazy!

It's So Quiet
Not that I'm complaining. I just haven't experienced true quiet since before school let out last year.
The kids got on the bus this morning without issue. Everyone popped right up out of bed, got dressed, ate their breakfast, and were ready on time. This is the beauty of the first day of school. It's all down hill from here, I know it.
By the end of the week, getting them out of bed will result in crabby children. Making sure they are ready on time to catch the bus will be a challenge that I have to face whether I want to or not, each and every morning.
At any rate, school has begun. Getting back into the routine of it all will require a little bit of time and effort, for both the kids and me.
I am enjoying my time alone today, though.

First Day of School
Tomorrow is the first day of school for the kids. I have mixed emotions. I've been waiting all summer for them to get back to school so I could have my peace and quiet back during the day. But, now that it's time for them to head back, I'm kind of sad. The peace and quiet that I've waited all summer for
Nevermind.........
They're fighting. Again.
That peace and quiet is sounding better and better.

Back To School Sale
While watching TV:
Tristan: Hey, they're having a back to school sale on tires.
Mike: Yeah, like that will fit in your desk.
You know, sometimes I wonder if he's serious when he says things like that.

Less Than Two Weeks And Counting
It looks like I'm going to survive summer vacation after all. I wasn't so sure at the beginning. After being home by myself all school year long, it was an adjustment to having someone here all the time.
And the noise. I still haven't gotten used to the noise that two fighting children make. The fighting is still constant and still loud, but my new motto is, "If you aren't bleeding or dying, I don't want to hear about it."
The kids head back to school September 2nd. I suppose I'll miss the little monsters, but it sure will be nice to get back to my routine. A routine that has gone by the wayside since school let out last year. A routine that keeps my house clean and chaos at bay.
I'll actually get to watch TV again, too. I don't think I've watched an entire show since summer started. Not that I really watch a lot of TV anyway, but I do love The Lifetime Channel. From the time the kids leave in the morning for school to the time they come home in the afternoon, the TV is tuned to Lifetime, whether I'm actually watching it or not. I can't wait!
