We had another wrestling match last night in Waupun. I have to say this right off the bat. Waupun, Wisconsin has some of the worst fans I've run into thus far!
It was terrible, the way they acted toward our high school aged boys. Our team dominated for most of the event, and it just made their fans more and more irate. They were yelling rude comments at our boys throughout the entire thing! At the end of the match when the boys line up on both sides and then shake hands, a LADY (and I use the term loosely) said to someone sitting next to her, "Our boys should shake hands with them and say 'faggot, faggot, faggot' as they pass each one."
She said this loud enough for me to hear, and I'm sure everyone within a few feet heard her too. I was steaming! More than steaming, I was pissed! I turned around and looked at her. My husband grabbed my arm and gave me a look like, "don't". He knew my mouth was about to get me in trouble.
I turned back around and said rather loudly, "I can't believe that ADULTS are such sore losers as to say such things like that about children." My husband's eyes were about to pop out of his head! I continued on with, "It's terrible when ADULTS have to act like children. What kind of example are they setting for their own children?!" I thought my husband's head would explode right there!
The woman just looked at me like I was speaking another language. I don't think she had any idea that what she said was wrong on so many levels. I can only thank God that none of our boys heard her say it. And, that none of their team's boys heard her say it, either.
This was a HIGH SCHOOL wrestling match, for the goodness sakes. It's not like it was the Super Bowl. These are children! What a terrible, terrible person someone has to be to think like that about children.
And you know what just amazes me the most? It was a woman that said this! Don't get me wrong. I'm not prejudice at all. But I know that men tend to get a little carried away at sporting events and say all kinds of rude things. But, this was a woman. It actually made me embarrassed for her.
Anyway, our boy didn't have a match. Their team didn't have anyone for him to wrestle. Our team won the meet, 46-27. Go Huskies!

Wish I could say I didn't know what you were talking about here... but I soooo understand. When my daughter played elementary basketball, I could *not* believe the nasty comments women, mothers would make.. it was horrible!
