Rebecca, who is ten and in fourth grade, is having a little friend over tonight for a sleepover. It's the first time she's ever asked for someone to stay over, and I never mentioned it before.
It should be.....interesting, to say the least.
The squealing, the giggling, till all hours of the night.
The constant bickering with her little brother because he won't leave them alone.
I can hear it all now, playing through my head like a bad movie.
What's next? Will Timothy come to me next week and ask to have one of his friends over?
This could be the beginning of an endless parade of children through my house all summer long. Is it a good thing? After all, the children will be entertained and I won't have to find things for them to do this summer.
I remember spending the night at my best friend's house when I was young. Every weekend I was either at her house, or she at mine. We must have driven our parents crazy with the non-stop girl talk about boys, clothes, and makeup.
Knowing what I know now, with a daughter of my own, and seeing how little girls act around one another, I so admire my mother for her patience when I myself was a young girl.
And So It Begins....

:-)... I actually didn't get to experience that as a child so I was more than happy to let my oldest daughter go and sleep over with good friends and she had many friends over. It can be both tiring and exhilirating!
On the other hand, my three youngest children are so close in age I think the second time around I may go a little crazy! :-)
