I have been having some pretty bizarre dreams lately. Maybe the stress of the kids being home for summer vacation has gone and driven me crazy, I don't know. I say bizarre because there really is no other word for it.
A couple of nights ago, I dreamed I had to go to a funeral for an old Jr. High schoolmate I haven't even thought about in years! At first, I was told that the person who had died was a girl named Alicia something. I can't remember the name. But when I got to the funeral home, it turned out to be Alicia K. I was heartbroke in my dream.
I went into the chapel and there in the coffin was Alicia K, looking just as I remembered her from Jr. High. The only thing was, and this is the strange part, she was moving! Her eyes were open, and they had her "hooked up" to some machine that made her arms and head move! In my dream, I remember being scared. Dead people are not supposed to move! No one seemed to be bothered by it. Everyone was going about their normal funeral business. The preacher said a few words as she continued to move in the coffin.
I don't remember much after that.
Last night, I had a dream that strange people (from outer space maybe?) took over the Earth. My teeth started falling out, every single one. They were kidnapping people and burying them alive in graves side by side. I was hiding, so they didn't find me. At the end of my dream, I could fly, and I took off flying over all the aliens and fresh graves. Hands were reaching up out of the graves to try to grab me as I flew over. I ended up in a building, and that's all I remember.
That dream must be my version of "The Tommyknockers", a book by Stephen King that I read for the first time when I was in Jr. High also.
I don't usually remember my dreams with such detail, and the weird thing is that both of them reminded me of a time in Jr. High. What's up with that?
