Well, it's been a few days since we had the torrential rains that flooded our neck of the woods. Things have receded in my area, but not so much in others close by.
We took a ride Saturday evening just to see what we could see. Not far from our house, there are roads closed due to high water still. Being the good mother I am, I told my kids to go play in the road so I could get some pictures to show you all. They happily obliged. After all, Mom never lets us play in the road otherwise. As you can see, there is still a lot of water covering some of the roads. If you look off to the right side of the picture, you can see a field. Well, what's supposed to be a field. It's now a lake, complete with white caps on this day because it was pretty windy. The kids wanted to wade out in the field, but I did say no to this request. It was hard to judge how deep it was in the field, and the water was moving pretty good. If you question the validity of this being a road, look off into the distance. You can see the road extending past the water. Click the picture for a larger view.
This is a close-up of the depth of the water. I'm guessing it had to be a good six inches deep, if not deeper in spots. Mike was going to attempt to drive through it until he saw the kids walking through it. He ended up turning around. Chicken!
