Wisconsin's Green Bay Packers lost the NFC Championship to the New York Giants last night with a score of 23-20 in overtime. It was a disappointing time for Packer fans as they braved the elements to support their team.
The temperature at kick-off was a freezing -1º, with a windchill of -22º. Some of the players chose not to wear long sleeves under their jerseys, while some had their helmets stuffed with fur and special cream rubbed on their skin to battle the cold. Both quarterbacks chose not to wear a glove on their throwing hand.
All is not lost, though. The Packers had a great season with Mike McCarthy as their new head coach. They ended the season with a record of 14-4. Even as the youngest team in the NFL this season, the Packers are full of talent, and should do well again next season.
The Packers' quarterback, Brett Favre, has talked about retiring at the end of the last two seasons. His dedication and love of the game brought him back this season in hopes of making it to another Superbowl. Even though his hopes were dashed at last night's game, I believe Brett will be back again next season to lead his young team to victory.
Not in the Cards This Season
