A Day on the Lake

What a day we had today! We packed up the kids and one of the dogs and headed out to the lake for a day of fishing, sun, and fun. Well, it was more sun and fun than fishing since we didn't catch anything.

Timothy was the only one with any luck at all. He kept getting bites, but never got lucky enough to actually get anything above the ice.

Jake, our black lab got in on the action, too. He decided that Mike couldn't clean the ice out of the holes and stole the skimmer and wouldn't bring it back. When Mike finally tackled him and took it back, Jake stood beside each hole and barked as he cleaned the holes. When Jake saw half a chance, he'd try to steal the skimmer again. A couple of times he managed to grab it, and it made for an entertaining game of tug-of-war between the two.

When the kids got bored with fishing, they shoveled a big area down to the ice and used their sleds to slide across the ice. If there hadn't been a bank of snow all around them, they probably would've kept going forever, with Jake in tow.

After a couple hours of fun, it was time to come home. The kids protested, but after just a few short minutes in the car, the back seat was quiet. Timothy, Rebecca, and Jake were all sleeping.
